So I was out at Edwards Cinema 22 today for a doubleheader: The Simpsons and Sunshine. While I was making my way to the bathroom for a pre-show rest stop, an employee stopped and exclaimed, “Hey, you’re Bryan Harley! You’re the man, I love your movies.” Taken aback, I quickly replied “Thanks,” and proceeded to the nearest urinal. Strangely enough, this is not the first time this has happened. If I recall correctly, it’s about the fifth time I’ve been recognized locally in public. And these occurrences haven’t become any less awkward or disturbing. So Mr. Edwards Employee, if you’re out there reading, you have thoroughly weirded me out. And I thank you. Keep watching.
Yes, after a long week of work I am once again back. I had quite an interesting time as a “camp counselor” at a summer camp designed to teach 9-12 year-olds how to create their own digital videos. My students did a funny 9 minute parody of Harry Potter in which I made a cameo as Hagrid. I’ll have to post it up one of these days. I was surprised how quickly these kids learned to shoot and edit.  ANYWHO. Jared and I have nailed down at apartment in Studio City (which is 14 miles northwest of downtown LA for those who don’t know). We’ll probably make the move in mid-August. No time for new projects between now and then!
Alrighty, Summer Arts is officially over. It went pretty well, I had a good time. To check out our 57 minute television show, visit the official site here. I served as one of the associate producers. Now Jared and I leave for Los Angeles tomorrow in hopes of finding an apartment. Back in three days…
Note to all SUPERHEROES viewers, nerds and fanboys… Andrew has left the door open to finishing Episode 6. However, he’s just moved into an apartment outside of DC and is trying to find employment, preferably not as a man whore. Meanwhile, Jared and I will be in LA next week looking for a place to live. Somewhere in between this all, I’ll try to edit together a new trailer based on the footage we’ve shot thus far. And then we’ll see what happens…
Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been working some freelance gigs over the past three weeks. First I was a camera op at this year’s Miss California Pageant. Got to sit around and videotape some of the most talented and attractive 18-24 year-old women in California, not a bad job! Now I’m working as a teaching assistant for the live television production course at CSU Summer Arts 2007. We’re producing a very unique and interesting 60 min. drama about oppression in Zimbabwe. For more info, click here. As for AMF updates, I don’t have any! I’ve posted all our on-the-web DVD commentaries, up next will be SUPERHEROES stuff… as soon as I hear back from Andrew.
