The Story: NATO: A Revolutionary Alliance is a short documentary on the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization and how it represents revolutions, reforms and reactions in history.
Production Notes: “NATO” was a project we completed for National History Day. The short documentary won top awards from the Clovis Unified School District and the County of Fresno, California. It was also showcased in San Jose at the California State History Day competition.

For the record Britain is responsible for all the countries that were partioned, pakistanIndia, IrelandNorthernIreland, IsraelPalestine,IranIraq, Sudan and South Africa and the conflicts that emegered from them.
Just small regions of our once large empire. The division of Ireland is as much the separatist republicans in the souths fault as it was Britains.
I have said very clearly there have been many problems created because of the British Empire, but we have done more good than bad, i can name alot more stable countries than those few you listed
Also we dont know what would of happened if we hadnt done what we did. A single united muslim state in the middle east? I think its good we created Israel
The British empire was the second global empire after Spain’s and now it is the America’s empire each building on top of the other. The purpose of which was to expand Western civillization. Having said that the role of imperialism is a tool to be used to subjugate a foreign race therefore the act of imperialism by its very nature is arrogant and cruel.
The spread of western civilization and values has been a good thing for this planet. :)
The spread of western democracy goes back to the days of the Norman invasion of Britain. The British Empire was not special in its dominance of the world. The US has now become the master of the aerial world.
The spread of western civilization is a process which didnt start with us and didnt end with us. Britain still played a key role creating the country that has now picked up the flag and continues the job. :)
Holland was the first State Republic. The United Provinces played a big part in shaping Britain. Unlike the British i don’t see the Dutch boasting about their empire. The reason is they tasted the bitter pill of invasion at the hands of other european countries and has more humility than the arrogant British who see themselves as the model UN country.

The British Empire was the largest empire in human history, now whilst America had and still has huge military power and economic strenght which to its credit it hasnt used to take over the world we live in different times.
Nuclear weapons means Americas choice is limited because certain things will result in a nuclear war one that noone including America could win.
Actually the Mongolian Empire was the biggest empire in human history but i will forgive you for you inaccuracy.
The point i was trying to make from the begining was that empires were created for the purpose of delegating power from one part of the world to the other. Imperialism is a relic of the past.
In an age of instant messaging and open borders their is no longer an imperial power that ownes the world. .
Well the British Empire was the largest empire by human population and it was the largest empire in human history by landmass at its peak, but obviously the land controlled didnt stay the same for many years.
I agree with you that Empires were a thing of the past, however they were needed back then and certainly n the British Empires case it did more good than bad overall. Ofcourse today such things are no longer possible nor acceptable, but we only have todays world because of the past.
But NATO is nothing to do with Imperialism or Empire buildings, its a defense alliance and a vital one which has helped keep western europe free.
Britain is no longer Empire building, and nor is America or though some seem to think it is.
NATO is fast becoming an imperial army. The US dominates it which is okay but the plans to add Japan Australia and other non Euro Atlantic powers to it and = take orders from US. America struts around the planet as a global police force with no restrictions.
I’ll say this by the Brits, they’re great when it comes to international law which is your countries best gift from its imperial past but this crap about the special relationship has to go. It makes you weak to the American hawks.
Many countries have a close relationship with the United States. Canada as it shares such an important border and is part of NAFTA, along with being involved in NORAD etc is clearly one of Americas closest allies. Then ofcourse no country has more influence than Israel. But i would put Britain along with those 2 countries in the 3 major allies of the United States.
The relationship is an important one, whilst we dont always agree a world shaped by america is a better one than 1 by our enemies
Id strongly support the expansion of NATO to bring in Japan, Australia, NZ although i wouldnt be too keen on South Korea or any other nation and certainly not Israel till the middle east is sorted.
NATO is an alliance of western democracies aimed at defending western values, we should welcome those strong democratic countries which clearly share our vision.
Im sorry but NATO is far more civilized than those who would oppose us. Lets not forget NATo only invaded Afghanistan, not Iraq
NATO bombed the hell out of Yugolsavia and to this day the trial in the Hague is on going.
One of the core reasons why NATO countries did not back America in Iraq was because they did not want another Balkan debacle in the mid east. Unlike the US which does not recognise the International Court and is therefore immune to criminal prosecutions. other NATO countries are and they have to wary of starting wars.
The NATO alliance is dead. Their is now only three armies that defend the world
These three armies are Japan. Second biggest army in the world.
Anglo American alliance which includes Canada and Australia
and thirdly the remaining chunk of NATO which is the Franco German military alliance of Europe
Id agree about the countries you list but most of those are Nato even if they dont always agree on everything and work together the core principle of NATO remains the same and that is the Article 5 which is the whle reason for NATO. An attack on one is an attack on them all, on the one occasion that has needed to be acted on as mentioned in this video.. all of NATO agreed to take part in Afghanistan although some do more than others.
Australia and Japan should be welcomed into the alliance tho
So what you are talking about here is a North Atlantic alliance with Pacific countries.
That sounds like a World Army. An army run by the Pentagon. Japan being the second army and all the other European countries and UN countries doing what Washington says.
Then lets go around the world. Remove Myanmar,Sudan,Belarus,Zimbabwe dictatorships. Russia,China, India leave them be.
Only this solution leads to once again polarising the world into armed camps.

This is ludicrous, to think Nato is dead is to turn away from any news ever in the world having to do with interational Alliances. Nato is very much alive, and whatever you think other Nato countries think of Afghanistan, we’re all there, even some who aren’t in Nato [Australia].
Its not an NATO alliance you are talking about it is a Trilateral Alliance between the western alliance. How can Austrlia be apart of alliance that does not include it.
An attack on one is an attack on all. That will apply to Australia becuase that country is apart of the western alliance and not because it is a NATO country.
The same way Georgia isn’t apart of NATO but they’re an ally to NATO, hence we were the organization that came to their help after the Russia conflict. The UN was created to suppress Russia, but Russia is still involved in the UN now. If you make a simple search anywhere, you’ll see that NATO is still around, so I’m not sure why you’re backing up a random youtube video where anything can be posted.

we should change NATO and change it to the Allies, keep all the current countriees of NATO and just add them to the Allies, but changing it to the allies will allow NATO coverage on a world scale as well as allow southern hemisphere countries to join, like New Zealand and Australia.
