Tutorials

I’ve gotten a lot of questions over the years, so I’ve decided to create this sort of FAQ or Tutorial section where I can hopefully lend some advice to fellow filmmakers via the wonders of the Internet. Enjoy.

Pre-Production

- How do I write a feature length screenplay?
- How do I find costumes for a war movie?

Production

- Where did you buy the prop assault rifle seen in TMTTTJ and Hamlet?

- How do you stop the wind from blowing into a microphone on a windy day?

Post-Production

- How do you add muzzle flashes to your gun shots?

- How did you make Freddy get hit by a car in Freddy?

General Questions

- How do I order a copy of one of your movies on DVD or VHS?

- What type of video equipment and computer software do you use?

If you have a question you’d like me to answer here, please email me.

Answers

How do I order a copy of one of your movies on DVD or VHS?

Well first of all, thanks for your interest! At this point in time I am unable to provide VHS or DVD copies of our movies. But I hope to have copies available for purchase in the near future. Only our movies with non-copyrighted material can be purchased though. The others will likely be packaged alongside for free. Join our message board (and thus our newsletter) if you wish to be notified when copies are made available.

Hey, I’ve been making independant films recently with my brother and i have been looking for some soundtracks with no lyrics in them a bit like you you have in ‘Murder Most Fowl’ and ‘Moses’

Could you please give me some areas to find the music like you have, thanks

Hi Nick. Actually, all of the music for MMF and Moses is original! It was composed for those films!

Believe it or not there are really good composers out there that will score your film if you ask nicely (maybe even for free). Try the music department at your local university, or scour filmmaking message boards like DVXUser or DVInfo.
